In a shift from the previous two-tournament week, the golfing spotlight now turns to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. A host of competitors from the Corales Puntacana Championship and the RBC Heritage have reunited to form 80 partnerships for this unique team event at TPC Louisiana.
The format features alternating rounds of better ball and alternate shot, with the 36-hole cut determining the top 33 teams and ties. While Official World Golf Ranking points are not on the line, the winning team will earn 400 FedExCup points and an exemption into the PGA Championship and future PGA TOUR events.
Among the notable pairings are:
- The Canadian duo of Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith
- The SEC alums Taylor Moore and Matt NeSmith
- The Danish brothers Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard
- Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry making their tournament debut
- The defending champions, the formidable team of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
“With favorable weather conditions anticipated throughout the week, TPC Louisiana is expected to present an inviting challenge for the teams.”
The course, featuring overseeded Bermudagrass greens and moderate rough, could potentially yield a run at the tournament record of 59 in the opening round.
The traditional top-10 exemptions into next week’s THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson are reserved for the top five teams and ties at the conclusion of the Zurich Classic.
