In a significant development for golf enthusiasts, the United States Golf Association (USGA) has announced that legendary golfer Tiger Woods has accepted a special exemption to compete in the 124th U.S. Open Championship, set to take place in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Woods, a three-time U.S. Open champion, expressed his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity, stating, “The U.S. Open, our national championship, is a truly special event for our game and one that has helped define my career. I’m honored to receive this exemption and could not be more excited for the opportunity to compete in this year’s U.S. Open, especially at Pinehurst, a venue that means so much to the game.”
The 48-year-old golf icon has won the U.S. Open in 2000, 2002, and 2008, and holds an impressive total of 12 major championships and 82 PGA Tour victories throughout his illustrious Hall of Fame career. Woods’ nine USGA titles match the record held by the legendary Bob Jones.
