Scottie Scheffler Caps Dominant Season with Tour Championship Victory
Scottie Scheffler, the undisputed best player in the world in 2023, capped off his remarkable season with a convincing victory at the Tour Championship in Atlanta. The 28-year-old Texan fired a final-round 67 to finish the tournament at a dominant 30-under par, four shots clear of the field.
Scheffler, who entered the final round with a five-shot lead, weathered a brief stumble with three bogeys in a four-hole stretch on the front nine. However, he regained his composure and cruised to his eighth PGA Tour victory of the year, solidifying his status as the ultimate benefactor in golf’s ongoing arms race.
“It’s been a wild year,” he said, “and I’m proud of the work we put in. There’s a lot of stuff that’s gone on outside of golf, but to be able to cap it off with this win is pretty special.”

The win earned Scheffler the coveted FedEx Cup title, along with a record $29.2 million in on-course earnings for the 2024 season. When combined with a $25 million FedEx bonus and an $8 million Comcast Business Top 10 bonus, Scheffler’s total earnings for the year reached an astounding $62.2 million – a figure that exceeds the entire on-course career earnings of Jordan Spieth.

Scottie Scheffler’s performance at the WGC Match Play 2023 and the Dell Match Play 2023 events earlier in the year had already established him as the clear frontrunner for PGA Tour Player of the Year honors. His masterful display at East Lake, where he led wire-to-wire, firmly cemented his status as the undisputed best player in the game.

While the rest of the field fought for the remaining positions, Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Russell Henley, and Adam Scott all secured lucrative paydays despite not winning a single event in 2024.
