Golf Sensation Scottie Scheffler Maintains Commanding Lead at RBC Heritage
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (Associated Press) – Masters champion Scottie Scheffler continued his dominant performance at the RBC Heritage, carding an impressive 8-under 63 on Saturday to maintain a one-shot lead heading into the final round.
Scheffler, who has been relentless in his play, went bogey-free for the third consecutive day, putting him in position to potentially become just the second Masters champion to win the following week on the PGA Tour, after Gary Player in 1978.
“I think when I’m playing my best, sometimes it feels like I’m competing against myself a little bit out there, trying to keep pushing and stay as focused as I can,” said Scheffler, who sits at 16-under 197 for the tournament.
Sepp Straka, who made a 15-foot birdie putt on the last hole, is just one shot behind Scheffler, setting up an intriguing final-round showdown. Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa and Masters runner-up Ludvig Åberg are also within striking distance, trailing by two and three shots, respectively.
Scheffler’s exceptional play has been a major talking point throughout the tournament, with the crowds lining the fairways to witness the world’s top-ranked player’s dominant performance. The 26-year-old has now gone 51 consecutive holes at par or better at Harbour Town Golf Links, a testament to his exceptional form.
“I think we all expect him to play well, and there’s nothing I can do about it,” Åberg said. “All I try to do is focus on myself and make sure that I hit the shots the way I want to and then see where that takes me.”
The final round of the RBC Heritage promises to be an exciting battle, with Scheffler’s relentless play and the talented field chasing him down. Golf enthusiasts are in for a thrilling conclusion to the event.
