The PGA TOUR moves from the hallowed grounds of Augusta National to the picturesque Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, as the 56th RBC Heritage gets underway. In its second year as a coveted Signature Event, the tournament promises a different test for the world’s best players, with its razor-thin fairways and tight Bermuda greens.
Harbour Town, with a rich history dating back to 1969, has long been a favorite stop on the TOUR. The course presents a unique interpretation of links golf, heavily tree-lined and demanding precision over power. At just 7,213 yards, it is one of the shorter tracks on the PGA TOUR, requiring players to meticulously navigate the layout’s many challenges.
While natural water hazards come into play on the iconic 17th and 18th holes, the course’s true defense lies in its abundance of strategically placed bunkers and treacherous, small greens.
