McIlroy and Lowry found themselves five strokes off the lead heading into the seventh hole, but a remarkable surge that included birdies on holes 7, 8, 10, and 11 propelled them back into contention. A crucial par save on the 13th hole, thanks to Lowry’s impressive recovery shot, further bolstered their comeback bid.
