Jason Day Iron Setup Search for PGA Success
Professional golfer Jason Day is determined to find the ideal iron setup to excel on the PGA TOUR. After trying different iron models, he has shifted to a mixed set of Srixon irons, aiming to enhance his game. Follow Day’s quest for optimal performance and potential victory.
Renowned professional golfer Jason Day has been on a quest to find the perfect iron setup that suits his game, as he aims to regain his winning form on the PGA TOUR. Despite an impressive start to the season, with four top-10 finishes, including a T6 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and a ninth-place finish at The Genesis Invitational, Day’s iron play has been the primary area he’s looking to improve.
Over the past 12 months, Day has experimented with various iron models, including the TaylorMade P770, P-7MC, P-7TW, and P760 setups. GolfWRX.com reported that, prior to the recent Texas Children’s Houston Open, the equipment free agent has now switched to a mixed set of Srixon irons, including the Srixon ZX5 MkII long irons and the Srixon ZX7 MkII mid-to-short irons.
In an interview with GolfWRX.com at the RBC Heritage, Day explained his reasoning for the change, stating that the Srixon irons provide him with lower spin rates, crucial for his high-ball hitting style. He also mentioned that the new irons perform well out of fairway bunkers and he’s eager to assess their performance from the rough.
“The Srixon irons provide me with lower spin rates, which is crucial for my high-ball hitting style.”
To complement his new Srixon irons, Day has equipped them with his familiar, extremely stiff True Temper Dynamic Gold X7 shafts, known for their ability to reduce spin. This combination aims to provide Day with the optimal launch, trajectory, and control he seeks to elevate his iron play and contend for more victories.
As Jason Day continues his quest for the perfect iron setup, golf enthusiasts will eagerly follow his progress, hoping to see the former world number one return to the winner’s circle.
