Hilton Head, South Carolina – The RBC Heritage, the fifth Signature Event of the 2024 PGA Tour season, returns to the iconic Harbour Town Golf Links this week. Situated less than 200 miles from Augusta National, the tournament offers a convenient follow-up to the first major championship of the year.
Since its inception in 1983, the RBC Heritage has traditionally been scheduled right after the Masters. Last year, it was Matt Fitzpatrick who prevailed in a playoff over 2022 champion Jordan Spieth. Both players are back in the 69-man, no-cut field this week.
Among the top contenders, two-time Masters champion Scottie Scheffler ($13,300) faces an intriguing challenge – the imminent arrival of his first child. The Texan’s golf focus could be tested if the baby comes during the tournament. Rory McIlroy ($11,200), making his third appearance at Harbour Town, continues his search for consistency in 2024, while Patrick Cantlay ($10,200) looks to build on his solid outing last week.
Other notable names include:
- Max Homa ($9,700)
- Will Zalatoris ($9,000)
- Sam Burns ($8,200)
All of whom have something to prove after their Masters performances. Rookie sensation Ludvig Åberg ($10,400) aims to build on the momentum from his impressive major debut. Tommy Fleetwood ($9,800) and Jordan Spieth ($9,400) also feature, as does Shane Lowry ($8,500), who returns to Hilton Head on a sponsor exemption.
With tight fairways, small greens, and the ever-present threat of wind, Harbour Town’s classic Pete Dye design promises to provide an intriguing test for the players. As the golf world turns its attention to the Lowcountry, the stage is set for another thrilling chapter in the RBC Heritage’s storied history.
