Future of Golf: Unification Between PGA Tour and LIV Golf Predicted by Keith Pelley

As the outgoing DP World Tour chief executive, Keith Pelley believes that the unification between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf is “inevitable,” even if it takes a decade to materialize. The ongoing conflict between golf’s traditional establishment and the Saudi-backed breakaway venture has been a tumultuous affair for the past two years.

Pelley told the Sunday Times that regardless of the timeframe, whether it be in six months, a year, two years, or even ten years, the realization is dawning that a collective product would serve the best interests of global golf. He emphasized that this is the only way to ensure the continued growth and escalation of prize funds within the sport.

“Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion who was initially a vocal critic of LIV, has expressed concerns that golf may remain “fractured forever” unless the opportunity to create a more global game is embraced.”

Pelley expressed his alignment with McIlroy’s perspective, stating that the player has been the one he has turned to the most, going back to the beginning of the conflict. Pelley acknowledged the importance of having individuals who are unafraid to voice their true opinions on this complex issue.
