Golf Enthusiasts Eagerly Await U.S. Team for 2024 Olympics as Bryson DeChambeau Misses Cut

June 20, 2023 – Despite Bryson DeChambeau’s recent victory at the U.S. Open, the golfer will not be part of the U.S. team for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Instead, the four highest-ranked American players in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR)Scottie Scheffer, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Collin Morikawa – will represent the United States.

Olympic Qualification Process

The Olympic qualification process dictates that the top 15 golfers in the OWGR are eligible for the Games, with a maximum of four players allowed per country. Players outside the top 15 can qualify based on the Olympic Golf Rankings, but no more than two per country, as long as that country does not already have two or more players among the top 15.

U.S. Team Lineup

Scheffler, currently ranked No. 1 in the OWGR, will be joined by Schauffele (No. 3), Clark (No. 5), and Morikawa (No. 7) on the U.S. team. Despite his impressive performances, including a win at the U.S. Open and a T6 finish at the Masters, Bryson DeChambeau, currently ranked No. 10, will not be able to participate in the Olympic Games due to his involvement with the LIV Golf series, which does not award OWGR points.

Anticipation for the 2024 Olympics

The 2024 Olympic Games are scheduled to take place at Le Golf National in Paris from August 1-4, marking the final event in the qualifying period that ended on Monday. Golf enthusiasts eagerly await the highly anticipated U.S. team and the competition it will bring to the international stage.
