American golf sensation Nelly Korda clinched her second major title and fifth straight tournament victory at the Chevron Championship in Texas, tying the LPGA record for most consecutive wins and solidifying her status as a powerhouse in women’s golf.
American golf superstar Nelly Korda secured her second major title and an impressive fifth consecutive tournament victory by winning the Chevron Championship in Texas. The world number one’s remarkable run continued as she carded a final round 69 to finish the tournament at 13 under par, two shots clear of Sweden’s Maja Stark.
Korda’s victory saw her tie the LPGA record for most consecutive wins, matching the feats of golfing legends Nancy Lopez in 1978 and Annika Sorenstam in 2004-05. The 25-year-old, whose first major triumph came at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, overcame a one-stroke deficit to South Korean leader Haeran Ryu heading into the final round.

Despite admitting to feeling the nerves during a challenging back nine, Korda managed to hold off her fellow competitors, including Canada’s Brooke Henderson and American Lauren Coughlin, who finished tied for third. Ryu, meanwhile, carded a two-over-par 74 to end the tournament in fifth place.
Korda, the daughter of former Australian Open tennis champion Petr Korda, expressed her relief at securing the victory, saying, “I can finally breathe now and just enjoy the moment because I was definitely really nervous. I feel sick to my stomach.”
The talented American’s remarkable run of form has seen her win five consecutive LPGA events, cementing her status as one of the dominant forces in women’s golf.
