Ledgeview Golf Course: Fostering Canadian Golf Talent and Inspiring Youth
Explore how Ledgeview Golf Course in Abbotsford, British Columbia, cultivates Canadian golf talent through the success of Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin. Witness the increase in junior golf participation and the impact of these PGA TOUR winners on aspiring young golfers.
Nestled in the heart of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Ledgeview Golf Course may only stretch just over 6,200 yards, but its challenging layout, featuring sloping greens and tight fairways, more than makes up for its modest length. This small yet mighty course has become a breeding ground for Canadian golfing talent, producing two of the country’s top-ranked players, Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin.
As the director of instruction at Ledgeview, Brady Stead has witnessed firsthand the impact these two PGA TOUR winners have had on the local youth. Since 2021, the course has seen a remarkable 23% increase in junior golf rounds and a 28% rise in junior membership numbers. The junior development program has also expanded from just six kids to a thriving group of 30 this year.
“It’s definitely a huge attraction to Ledgeview because of what those guys have done,” Stead says. “It really does bring a lot of kids to the facility to think, maybe one day, they could be just like them.”
The success of Taylor and Hadwin has become a source of inspiration for the next generation of Canadian golfers. Stead notes that the non-member green fee total, reflecting kids eager to try the sport, has seen an 84% jump between 2022 and 2023.
The duo’s close-knit relationship and complementary skill sets have been on full display in recent years. At the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Taylor and Hadwin finished runners-up, setting a new alternate-shot scoring record with a final-round 9-under 63. Their success is a testament to not only their talent but also their longstanding friendship, having known each other since their junior golf days.
As they continue to climb the ranks of professional golf, Taylor and Hadwin’s impact extends far beyond their individual achievements. They serve as shining examples for young golfers in their community, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and follow in the footsteps of their golfing heroes.
