Boo Weekley: Triumphs at Harbour Town Golf Links

Explore Boo Weekley’s remarkable triumphs at the Harbour Town Golf Links, securing victory in the RBC Heritage tournament in 2007 and 2008. With his love for the course’s resemblance to his childhood golfing grounds and his exceptional performance under pressure, Weekley’s wins hold a special place in golf history.

For golfer Boo Weekley, the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina holds a special place in his heart. The first time he stepped foot on the course, he instantly fell in love, as it reminded him of the golf course he grew up playing on in Milton, Florida – Tanglewood Golf Club.

Weekley’s affinity for Harbour Town was evident in his performances, as he won the RBC Heritage tournament on the course not once, but twice – in 2007 and 2008. The 2007 victory was particularly memorable, as it came on the heels of a heartbreaking loss a few weeks earlier at The Classic in The Palm Beaches, where he three-putted the final hole to miss out on the title.

“Harbour Town means the world to me. It’s a place where my game feels at home, and the victories there are etched in my memory forever,” said Weekley.

Weekley’s first Harbour Town triumph was a dramatic one, with play being halted on Sunday due to a windstorm and the final round being completed on Monday. Despite the unusual circumstances, Weekley made the most of the opportunity, chipping in for par on the 17th hole and then holing out from off the green on the 18th to clinch the victory.

The following year, Weekley returned as the defending champion, and he was able to successfully defend his title, though the second win was a much more relaxed affair. Weekley held a comfortable lead throughout the final round, and he even had a humorous moment when he thought he needed to make a putt on the 18th hole to avoid a playoff, only to be told by his caddie that he had a three-shot cushion.

Weekley’s love for Harbour Town stemmed from the course’s similarities to the one he grew up playing, with its tight fairways and small greens. He thrived in those conditions, showcasing his skill in hitting the ball to the right distances and controlling his shots around the greens.

The two tartan jackets Weekley won at Harbour Town hold a special place in his heart, and he cherishes the memories of those two weeks when he was able to put his game on display for the fans in Hilton Head Island.
