Teenage Golf Prodigy Miles Russell Earns Spot on PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour
At just 15 years old, Miles Russell is making waves in the golf world. The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) standout recently earned the right to compete on both the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA TOUR this year.
Last week, Russell finished tied for 20th at the Korn Ferry Tour’s LECOM Suncoast Classic, becoming the youngest player to make a Korn Ferry Tour cut and recording the first top-25 finish by a player under 16 on either the PGA TOUR or Korn Ferry Tour. This impressive performance has earned him a spot in this week’s Veritex Bank Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour.
But Russell’s achievements don’t stop there. The reigning AJGA Rolex Junior Player of the Year will also receive a sponsor exemption to compete in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on the PGA TOUR in November. This marks the first tournament exemption in a new partnership between the AJGA and the PGA TOUR event.
“I am honored to be receiving an exemption into the 2024 Butterfield Bermuda Championship,” Russell said. “I have dreamt of playing on the PGA TOUR my entire life and to have that dream coming to fruition later this year is a feeling that I cannot describe.”
Russell, a native of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, has had a remarkable 2023 season, including back-to-back victories at the TaylorMade TP5 Junior All-Star and Moon Golf Junior All-Star events, as well as wins at the Junior PGA Championship and the Junior PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
The 15-year-old, who is currently a high school freshman attending online school, is making history by becoming the youngest player to compete on both the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA TOUR. His early success has drawn comparisons to other young stars, such as Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler, who also earned top-25 finishes in their TOUR-sanctioned debuts.
