Nelly Korda Aims to Regain Winning Form at KPMG Women’s PGA Championship
In a bid to regain her winning form, world number one Nelly Korda has set her sights on the upcoming KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, the year’s third major tournament. Korda, who earlier this year enjoyed a remarkable run of six victories in seven starts, including a second major title at the Chevron Championship, has recently faced a dip in her performance.
The 25-year-old American missed the cut at last month’s US Women’s Open and also failed to make the weekend at the LPGA Meijer Classic. However, Korda is determined to put those setbacks behind her as she tees off at the Sahalee Country Club near Seattle, Washington.
“You can dwell on the negatives but that’ll never lead you anywhere, so I try to look at the positives,” Korda said during a press conference. “I’m going to go through these situations, so many times, where I feel like I’m playing really well, and then I’ll go through a little lull where golf is the hardest thing in my life right now.”
Korda, who won the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2021, is strongly tipped to bounce back, but she is determined not to put any extra pressure on herself.
“I feel like pressure is privilege, and that’s something that you’re the only one that can control,” she explained. “I’m just going to stay in my bubble this week and I’m going to go out and try to execute my shots, be confident in what I have.”
The reigning champion, China’s Ruoning Yin, will also be competing in the tournament, adding to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
