Golf enthusiasts are abuzz with excitement as legendary player Tiger Woods prepares to make his highly anticipated 2024 season debut at The Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles next week. The 15-time major champion announced on social media that he is “excited to be a playing host” at the tournament, which marks his first full-field event appearance since the 2023 Masters.
Woods, who annually hosts the Genesis Invitational to benefit his TGR Foundation, expressed his eagerness to return to the course. In November, the golfing icon had hinted at a potential plan to play in one tournament per month in 2024, starting with the Genesis.
“I’m just as curious as all of you are to see what happens,” Woods said during a news conference at the Hero World Challenge last fall.
He emphasized that he no longer experiences the pain in his ankle that had forced him to withdraw from the 2023 Masters due to plantar fasciitis, leading to subsequent ankle surgery that same month.
The golfing legend’s return to action is highly anticipated, as he spent much of 2023 recovering and made limited appearances late in the year, including at the Hero World Challenge, where he finished 18th out of 20 players, and the PNC Championship with his son Charlie, where they tied for fifth place.
The Genesis Invitational, set to take place from February 15-18 at the renowned Riviera Country Club, promises to be a can’t-miss event for golf enthusiasts eager to witness the comeback of one of the sport’s most iconic figures.
