Golf Icon Tiger Woods Continues Impressive Masters Run, Makes 24th Consecutive Cut

Five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods shot an even-par 72 in the second round of the 2023 Masters Tournament at Augusta National on Friday, cementing his place for the weekend and making a record 24th consecutive cut at the prestigious event.

Woods finished the first two rounds at 1-over-par, tying him for 27th place as the tournament entered its crucial moving day. The top 50 players, plus ties, will advance to the final two rounds, and Woods ensured he would have that opportunity.

“It means I have a chance going into the weekend. I’m here. I have a chance to win the golf tournament,” the 15-time major champion said after his round.

The 48-year-old golfing icon surpassed legends Fred Couples and Gary Player by making his 24th straight Masters cut, a testament to his endurance and skill.

Woods had to complete 23 holes on Friday after his opening round was suspended due to darkness on Thursday. He shot a 73 in the first round before carding an even-par 36 on the front nine and an even-par 36 on the back during the second round.

Highlights of Woods’ second round included a chip-in birdie on the par-3 6th hole and solid par saves on the back nine that kept him in contention. While a bogey on the 14th hole briefly set him back, he responded with a birdie on the par-5 15th to get back to 1-over for the tournament.

With the weekend in sight, all eyes will remain on Woods as he continues his quest for a sixth Masters title, having not completed all 72 holes in a major since the 2022 edition of this event.
