Energized by his recent achievements, Shane Lowry is firmly focused on the future as he sets his sights on golf’s grandest prizes. The 2019 Open champion has consistently performed well at the Masters in recent years, finishing tied for third in 2022, and he remains confident that his best golf is still to come.
Lowry’s sole major triumph at Portrush has fueled his hunger for more success, with a coveted green jacket at Augusta topping his “bucket list.” The Irishman’s experience of Ryder Cup glory in Rome last year has only further ignited his desire to taste victory on American soil, while an Olympic medal also features prominently among his aspirations.
Despite the high expectations that accompany his past achievements, Lowry remains grounded, acknowledging that the pressure can sometimes have a detrimental effect.
“It’s hard to get better than winning the Open, but you have these expectations and they can do things to you, so you need to take a step back,” he reflected.
Lowry’s recent resurgence, evidenced by a third-place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, has reignited his self-belief, and he is convinced that his finest moments are still ahead.
“You always have to believe it’s ahead of you because that drives you, but it does enter your head. You know what, though, I do think it is ahead of me,” the 37-year-old asserted.
With a steely determination and unwavering confidence, Lowry is poised to make his mark on the golfing landscape once more, as he strives to add to his impressive résumé and fulfill his dreams of donning the coveted green jacket and standing atop the podium.
