Scottie Scheffler Bounces Back After Early Arrest Scare at PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler, the reigning Masters champion, faced an unexpected hurdle in his pursuit of the PGA Championship on Friday when he was briefly detained by police outside Valhalla Golf Club. However, the world No. 1 golfer has since been released and has arrived at the course, determined to continue his campaign for the year’s second major title.

Scheffler, who carded a solid four-under-par 67 in the opening round to sit tied for 12th, five shots behind leader Xander Schauffele, was reportedly stopped by police over “a big misunderstanding.” The second round was delayed by an hour and 20 minutes due to the incident, but Scheffler has now joined his playing partners, reigning U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark and reigning Open champion Brian Harman, and is ready to resume his quest for the Wanamaker Trophy.

“Despite the early hiccup, Scheffler has displayed impressive resilience, starting his round with a birdie at the par-5 10th hole. The 27-year-old American will look to capitalize on the receptive course conditions and continue his charge up the leaderboard as he aims to claim his second major championship title.”

Other notable players in the field, including Rory McIlroy, who is in early contention, and Jon Rahm, who struggled in the opening round but is fighting back, will also be under the spotlight as the second round of the PGA Championship unfolds at Valhalla.
