Rory McIlroy showcased his grit and determination, shrugging off a lengthy debate over a penalty drop to claim a share of the clubhouse lead on day one of the prestigious Players Championship. The Northern Irishman, known for his unwavering commitment to the sport, navigated the treacherous TPC Sawgrass course with remarkable precision, covering his first 15 holes in a blistering eight under par.
However, McIlroy’s round took an unexpected turn on the seventh hole, where he pulled his tee shot into the water.
