Nelly Korda Claims 4th Consecutive Win at T-Mobile Match Play

In a thrilling display of golf prowess, world number one Nelly Korda emerged victorious at the T-Mobile Match Play event, securing her fourth consecutive tournament win. The American star overpowered Ireland’s Leona Maguire in the final, securing a 4&3 victory on the Leopard Creek course in Las Vegas.

Korda’s dominant performance was evident from the start, as she won four of the first seven holes. Maguire, who had topped the strokeplay section of the tournament, finally won the ninth hole before falling five down on the 12th. Though Maguire managed to cut the deficit with two late birdies, Korda closed out the match on the 15th hole.

This remarkable achievement follows Korda’s previous successes at the Drive On Championship, Los Angeles Open, and Arizona Championship, all of which she won in the last three weeks. The 24-year-old is the first player to win four consecutive starts on the LPGA Tour since Lorena Ochoa in 2008.

“I can’t even wrap my head around it,” Korda said after her victory. “It’s been such a whirlwind the last three weeks. I just feel like I was just in go-mode constantly.”

With the Chevron Championship, the first major of the season, just two weeks away, Korda has the opportunity to tie the record of five straight wins held by golfing legends Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam. Korda’s only major victory to date came at the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship.
