SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France – Lydia Ko etched her name in history on Saturday, securing the elusive Olympic gold medal to cap off her career medal collection at the 2024 Paris Games. The 27-year-old New Zealander navigated the challenges of Le Golf National with poise, firing a closing 1-under 71 to finish the week at 10-under and two shots clear of the field.
Ko’s victory not only earned her the Olympic gold, but also secured her induction into the prestigious LPGA Hall of Fame. The former world No. 1 had previously won silver in 2016 and bronze in 2020, and now completes the set with the coveted gold medal.

However, a wayward approach on the 13th hole saw her lead shrink to just one stroke, as Germany’s Esther Henseleit made a charge. But the Kiwi star refused to wilt, rattling off a string of pars down the stretch before capping her round with a closing birdie on the 18th to clinch the title.
Henseleit finished in second place at 8-under, while China’s Xiyu Lin rallied late to claim the bronze medal. The victory capped off a remarkable week for Ko, who displayed the form that made her a dominant force on the LPGA Tour, with 19 birdies and an impressive 12 up-and-downs to save par.
With this triumph, Lydia Ko has officially joined the LPGA Hall of Fame, an accolade that perfectly complements her storied career that now includes three Olympic medals – a silver, a bronze, and the elusive gold.
