Australian Golfer Min Woo Lee’s Masters Challenge Amidst Injury & Illness
Witness Min Woo Lee’s resilience as he tackles the Masters tournament with determination despite injury setbacks and battling illness. The Australian golfer seeks to outshine previous performances and make his mark at Augusta National.
Australian golfer Min Woo Lee will be hoping to record a personal best finish at the prestigious Masters tournament over the weekend. However, the 25-year-old from Perth faces a challenging task as he battles against injury and illness.
Lee is set to make his third appearance at Augusta National, having finished a respectable T14 in 2022 before missing the cut last year. Unfortunately, his recent form has been a mixed bag, with only a single top-ten finish so far in 2024 and a missed cut at the Valspar Championship in late March.
The talented golfer’s preparations for the Masters have been further complicated by an unfortunate gym-related incident. Just a couple of weeks before the tournament, Lee broke a finger on his right hand while dropping a dumbbell during a workout. The news came as a surprise, and Lee admitted to feeling anxious about the injury and its potential impact on his performance.
“Despite the setback, Lee has been pleasantly surprised by the speed of his recovery, describing it as ‘miraculously good’.”
Although the finger is still bandaged and slightly swollen, the golfer was able to hit his first full driver shot on Friday and participated in the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday, determined to give it his all.
Furthermore, Lee has also been dealing with the effects of the flu, acknowledging that he is “not 100 percent yet” but still eager to take on the challenges of the Masters. The world’s 32nd-ranked male golfer has continued his strength and conditioning work, carefully avoiding the piece of equipment that caused his finger injury.
As the son of a two-time major winner on the LPGA Tour, Min Woo Lee will be hoping to draw inspiration from his sister’s success and make the most of his opportunity at the Masters, despite the physical obstacles he faces.
